''The image of a young woman in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, forming a human barrier between a police line and group of protestors with her arms outstretched has gone viral.

The photo shows Hayley Garlett defiantly staring down a group of protestors as tensions flared on Tuesday in Kalgoorlie following the death of 14-year-old Aboriginal boy Elijah Doughty.

Doughty was found dead in bushland outside of Boulder, near Kalgoorlie, on Monday. A 55-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter and is alleged to have hit Doughty with his ute while the teen was riding a bike.

A crowd of around 200 people took to the streets and smashed windows at the courthouse and overwhelmed police on Tuesday when the accused was due to appear in court, furious about the death and alleging it was a hate crime...''
