''It’s easy to assume that when people are successful, they’ve got it all figured out; their lives are mostly perfect and the rest of us are just fumbling along. But the reality is we’re all going through the same ups and downs in life, including how we deal with the big one – fear. We asked some bright young things to be vulnerable with us for a minute, tell us what scares the pants off them, and how they’ve used it to their advantage.

For my entire adult life I’ve maintained my fear of driving like a prized bonsai. Basically, a car weighs a tonne and I am easily distracted. That is, until few weeks ago out in Wee Waa, NSW, when a cotton farmer friend of mine finally cracked my anxiety and insisted I drive the remaining 15km home through the fields.

It was a 3.5-tonne truck; we only almost rolled off the 2m-high channel banks once, and I could feel the exact moment my fear finally scurried away.

Traditional advice says it’s best to either confront fears or learn to accept whatever causes them, so in the spirit of sharing, we got four inspiring young creatives to dish on what gives them The Fear...''
